CPN (Maoist Centre) Engages Experts to Enhance Country’s Economic Prospects

In a proactive move to bolster the nation’s economic landscape, the CPN (Maoist Centre) has initiated a collaborative effort by seeking insights and recommendations from experts across various domains. The objective is to infuse renewed confidence and vigor into domestic efforts, fostering an environment conducive to tangible progress within the country.

Under the banner of ‘Country’s Economic Development Model and Development Programme,’ the Finance and Planning Department of the CPN (Maoist Centre) orchestrated an interactive session aimed at eliciting valuable suggestions from experts hailing from diverse sectors such as agriculture, tourism, energy, water resources, information technology, physical infrastructure, engineering, and commerce. This concerted endeavor seeks to contribute to the government’s ongoing efforts to enhance the current economic situation.

During the event, the Chief of the party’s Finance and Planning Department and former Finance Minister, Barsha Man Pun, highlighted the urgency of halting the exodus of skilled workforce to foreign shores. He underscored the importance of generating ample job opportunities through domestic industrialization. “It is imperative that we expedite measures to retain our qualified workforce within the country. Delaying the pursuit of policies aimed at workforce retention could prove detrimental,” emphasized Pun.

Min Bahadur Shrestha, Vice Chairperson of the National Planning Commission, drew attention to the significance of imbuing the upcoming plan with quality and practicality. Reflecting on the shortcomings of previous five-year plans, Shrestha advocated for a measured approach, advising against overambitious objectives that might lead to future setbacks. “Our focus should be on effective implementation and sustainable progress, rather than pursuing overly ambitious plans,” stated Shrestha.

To consolidate the valuable insights garnered from this collaborative initiative, a comprehensive report incorporating the collected suggestions will be presented to Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda.’ Economist DP Dhakal, a member of the department, confirmed this vital step in forwarding the gathered recommendations for further consideration.

This proactive engagement with experts reflects the CPN (Maoist Centre)’s commitment to harnessing collective wisdom to pave the way for a more prosperous and economically vibrant Nepal.
