Day of Fluctuations at NEPSE with Notable Gains in Microfinance and Hydro Sectors

In a fluctuating trading session on Wednesday, the Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) registered a marginal drop, closing down by 0.21 points at 1960.60. The trading volume reached 58,74,967 shares, valued at NPR 2,054 crores, 70 lakhs, and 30 thousand across 41,137 transactions.

A total of 305 companies participated in today’s session. Out of these, share prices of 124 companies saw an increase, 107 experienced a decline, and prices of 12 companies remained unchanged.

Despite the overall market dip, certain sectors showed resilience. The sensitive index, which measures the performance of large blue-chip companies, fell slightly by 0.17 points. However, both the float index and the sensitive float index, which track a broader range of stocks, edged up by 0.09 points each.

Sector-wise, the day ended mixed with 4 out of 13 subgroups reporting gains. The remaining 8 subgroups, particularly those in finance, hydro, microfinance, and trading, witnessed declines.

Standouts of the day included Infinity Microfinance, which saw its shares jump by 10%, hitting a positive circuit. Similarly, Doti Hydropower enjoyed a significant boost with a 9.79-point increase.

Investors continue to monitor market dynamics closely, as the diverse movements in different sectors suggest shifting investor sentiments.
