Earthquake Tremors Rattle Kathmandu Valley, Series of Quakes Continue in Western Nepal

Tremors from a moderate earthquake were felt across Kathmandu Valley early Tuesday morning, with the National Earthquake Monitoring and Research Centre confirming a 5.0-magnitude quake.
The earthquake struck at 4:05 AM, with its epicenter located in Dingze, China — approximately 18 kilometers from Nepal’s northern border.
The incident comes amid a series of recent seismic activities in western Nepal, particularly in Jajarkot district. At 4:53 AM today, a 4.4-magnitude earthquake was recorded in Kushe Rural Municipality, Pank, Jajarkot. Another tremor measuring 4.1 on the Richter scale had struck the same location at 9:31 PM on Monday.
Though the tremors were widely felt, no reports of damage have been received so far.
According to the Centre, two earlier earthquakes were recorded in Jajarkot on the evening of April 3 — one measuring 5.2 and another 5.5 — which caused minor damage to several houses in the area.
Western Nepal has remained seismically active in recent weeks. A 4.0-magnitude quake was recorded in Darchula on April 2, while a 4.5-magnitude tremor was reported in Humla on March 25.
Authorities continue to monitor seismic activity across the region, urging residents to remain alert and take precautionary measures.
