
Five Injured in Clash Over Pathibhara Cable Car Construction


A clash between police and locals protesting the construction of a cable car in Pathibhara left five people injured on Saturday. The incident occurred at Baludanda, above Kaflepati, as tensions escalated between protesters and security personnel.
Chief District Officer Netra Prasad Sharma confirmed that three Armed Police Force members and two protesters sustained injuries during the altercation. The situation turned violent after protesters began pelting stones at the police.
The District Police Office reported the recovery of three khukuris, a slingshot, and other items from the protesters. According to Deputy Superintendent of Armed Police Naresh Maharjan, these items were discovered during a search operation after authorities received reports that some protesters were armed.
Despite the unrest, Himalayan Construction Private Limited has continued work on the cable car project, aiming to complete it within 15 months.
The District Administration Office has stated that the situation has returned to normal following the clash. The cable car project remains a point of contention, with locals expressing concerns over its impact on the area.
