Foreign Minister Saud Gears Up for Russia Trip

In response to growing concerns over the safety and welfare of Nepalese citizens enlisted in the Russian army, Minister for Foreign Affairs Narayan Prakash Saud is set to embark on a visit to Russia. A reliable source within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has disclosed that the minister has instructed the Nepali Embassy in Russia to expedite all necessary arrangements for his upcoming visit.

“The exact date for the visit has not yet been determined,” the source stated. “However, the minister is gearing up to travel to Russia within the next few days.”

Tragically, it has been reported that 10 Nepali individuals who joined the Russian army have lost their lives, raising alarm bells about the conditions faced by Nepalese nationals serving in the Russian military.

During an event on Tuesday, Minister Saud revealed that the government has received applications for the rescue of 115 individuals who joined the Russian army. Expressing deep concern, he estimated that more than 200 Nepalese nationals might have enlisted in the Russian army. He emphatically emphasized that it is not the policy of the Nepalese government to send its citizens to perilous locations.

“The safety and well-being of our citizens are of paramount importance,” Minister Saud declared.

The minister affirmed that the government is actively working to repatriate those Nepalis who have joined the Russian army, particularly those who are injured or in precarious situations. This move comes as a part of the government’s commitment to ensuring the safety of its citizens abroad.
