Former Minister Exposes China’s Plot to Capture Pokhara International Airport

Guru Baral, a central member of the Nepali Congress said that Nepal’s progress and development cannot be achieved unless Chinese expansionism is curtailed.

He made this claim during an event that took place in Pokhara a few days ago.

During his speech at a symposium on “Chinese Practices and Effects on Nepal,” which was organized by Rashtriya Ekata Abhiyan, the former Minister made a remark that China has been showing interest in Nepal from various perspectives in recent times.

According to Leader Baral, there have been instances where China has refused to accept the credentials of the Nepalese ambassador to China, and at other times, they have been meddling in Nepal’s domestic politics through their embassy in Kathmandu.

He also emphasized that the progress and development of Nepal will remain unattainable unless all of us collectively put an end to China’s expansionist policies.

During the conference, former minister Mekhlal Shrestha made an accusation against China, claiming that the country is attempting to transform Nepal into a situation similar to Sri Lanka.

He accused China of having ulterior motives towards Nepal. He warned that China was making strategic moves to seize control of the Pokhara Airport, which is a key strategic location in Nepal.

Social activist Anand Raj Mulmi also spoke against China’s expansionist policy, calling for unity in opposition to its efforts to entrap Nepal through the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI).

He called for action to counter China’s expansionism and cautioned Nepal against falling into the trap of Chinese debt.

Vinay Yadav, the central president of the campaign, said that he has recently read in newspapers and magazines about China’s encroachment on Nepalese territory.

He also drew attention to the fact that Chinese citizens who do illegal activities in Nepal pose a security risk to the country.
