Home Ministers of Nepal and Malaysia Discuss Suspected Fraudster GB Rai

Nepal’s Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane engaged in a phone call with his Malaysian counterpart, Saifuddin Nasution Ismail, where discussions reportedly centered around GB Rai, a prime suspect in a cooperative fraud case, who is believed to have fled to Malaysia.

While Minister Ismail emphasized the security and welfare of Nepali migrant workers in Malaysia through social media, he did not directly address the GB Rai issue. However, Minister Lamichhane’s office confirmed that the topic of Rai was indeed part of the discussion.

This engagement comes shortly after Minister Lamichhane assured the public of his commitment to locating and apprehending Rai within 24 hours of taking office, a statement that has brought much attention given Rai’s continued evasion of law enforcement. According to unconfirmed reports, Rai might be operating a restaurant in Malaysia.

The Home Ministry and the police are still investigating these claims, and have not provided further updates on Rai’s whereabouts. The situation remains a point of significant interest and concern, especially among victims of the cooperative fraud.
