India’s PM Modi takes holy dip in ‘Agni theerth’ beach; prays at Rameswaram temple

In a spiritual sojourn, India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the revered Lord Ramanathaswamy temple in Rameswaram, Tamil Nadu, on Saturday. Dressed in traditional attire and adorned with a rudraksha-mala, PM Modi embarked on a divine journey that included a sacred dip at the ‘Angi Theerth’ beach.

The Ramanathaswamy shrine, an ancient Shiva temple, holds historical significance as it is believed to have been graced by Lord Ram and Sita Devi during the events of the Ramayana. The Shiva linga present in the temple was installed by Shri Ram, adding a profound connection to the epic.

Upon arrival, Prime Minister Modi was greeted with traditional honors by the temple priests. He engaged in heartfelt prayers and participated in ‘bhajans,’ immersing himself in the spiritual ambiance of the sacred site.

Before reaching Rameswaram, PM Modi visited the Sri Ranganathaswamy temple in the Tiruchirappalli district. Arriving at the Rameswaram island via an Air Force chopper, he received a warm reception from enthusiastic BJP workers and the local community.

The visit not only showcases the Prime Minister’s commitment to spirituality but also highlights the cultural and historical importance of these revered temples in Tamil Nadu. The pilgrimage underscores the deep-rooted connection between Indian leaders and the rich heritage of the nation.
