Islamabad Embassy Hosts Reception for Nepal’s Constitution Day

The Embassy of Nepal in Islamabad hosted a reception today to commemorate Nepal’s ninth Constitution Day. This significant event marked the anniversary of the promulgation of Nepal’s Constitution on September 20, 2015.

Tapas Adhikari, Ambassador of Nepal to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, welcomed esteemed guests to the celebration, emphasizing the paramount importance of this day in Nepal’s history. He highlighted that Nepal’s Constitution encompasses fundamental principles of democracy, human rights, peace, progress, equality, and equity, serving as a cornerstone of the nation’s values.

Speaking about Nepal-Pakistan relations, Ambassador Adhikari underscored the strong bilateral ties characterized by warmth, friendship, and cooperation. He also stressed the need to further expand and diversify these relations for mutual benefit.

Ambassador Adhikari described Nepal as a hub for mountain and adventure tourism, emphasizing its natural and cultural beauty and diversity. He extended an open invitation to tourists, welcoming them to explore the adventure and various other activities Nepal has to offer.

Muhammad Sami Saeed, Minister for Planning, Development, and Special Initiatives of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, served as the Chief Guest at the event. He conveyed congratulations and best wishes from the Prime Minister and Government of Pakistan to the Government and people of Nepal. Minister Saeed also applauded the strong bilateral relations between Nepal and Pakistan.

Senator Mushahid Hussain Sayed, Chairman Senate Defence Committee, shared insights on Nepal-Pakistan relations based on his numerous visits to Nepal, emphasizing the enduring friendship between the two nations.

The event drew a distinguished audience, including the leader of the opposition in the Senate, other senators, the Ambassador of Pakistan to Nepal, former ministers, high-ranking civilian and military officials of the Government of Pakistan, and former ambassadors of Pakistan to Nepal. Ambassadors and High Commissioners from various countries accredited to Pakistan, as well as representatives from diplomatic missions and international organizations, friends of Nepal, business leaders, media personnel, and members of the Nepali community, also attended.

Earlier in the day, Ambassador Tapas Adhikari hoisted the national flag of Nepal in the Embassy premises during a ceremony attended by the Nepali community in Islamabad. The participants exchanged congratulations and best wishes, marking the beginning of this momentous day for Nepal.
