Israel Operation: 55 Nepalis Relocated Safely, 200 Request Return

55 Nepali nationals, including 32 students from Sudurpaschim University and 23 students from Agriculture and Forestry University, have been successfully transferred to a secure location in Israel. This operation was coordinated with the assistance of the Israeli government.

Foreign Minister NP Saud confirmed this positive development during a meeting of the International Relations Committee of the Parliament on Tuesday, emphasizing the government’s commitment to ensuring the safety of Nepali citizens in various regions.

Furthermore, Minister Saud disclosed that more than 200 individuals have expressed their desire to return to Nepal. Currently, there are 4,500 Nepali caregivers in Israel, with 265 students studying there. Tragically, 10 of these students lost their lives in a Hamas attack.

The recent evacuations primarily involved students who had traveled to Israel through the ‘Learn and Earn Program.’ Specifically, 119 students from Agriculture University, 97 students from Tribhuvan University, and 49 students from Sudurpaschim University had embarked on this journey just a month ago.

Among the students from Sudurpaschim University, 17 were residing in Kibbutz Alumim in southern Israel. Regrettably, 10 of them fell victim to Hamas attacks. According to the Ministry, two individuals are safe, four injured individuals are receiving medical treatment, and one person remains missing.

Minister Saud assured that Nepali citizens who had traveled as caregivers are currently safe and accounted for. The government continues to monitor the situation closely and take necessary measures to safeguard its citizens abroad.
