Kailali launches 16-day Activism against Gender-Based Violence

The 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence has kicked off in Kailali, the district in the Sudurpaschim Province.

Under the global campaign aims to prevent and eliminate violence against women and girls ( VAWG), all the local levels in the district have scheduled various events such as local-level discussions, gatherings, orientation, street drama, school-level sports competition, oratory and essay writing competition on the topic so as to increase public awareness against the VAWG.

Tikapur municipality deputy mayor Khadak Bahadur Shah said the campaign has kicked off targeting all nine wards here. The deputy mayor believes that VAW cases are perennial in society and they must be prevented and eliminated.

The United Nations’ annual international campaign kicks off on November 25, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, and concludes on December 10, international Human Rights Day.
