Kathmandu University and Nepal Police Hospital Forge Collaboration in Medical Education and Research
Kathmandu, Dec 19: In a significant move to enhance cooperation in medical education, research, and training, an official bilateral agreement has been inked between Kathmandu University (KU) and Nepal Police Hospital, Maharajgunj. The agreement aims to foster collaborative efforts between the two institutions on various medical subjects.
The agreement was formalized at a special ceremony held at Kathmandu University on Monday, where Prof Dr Bhola Thapa, Vice-Chancellor of KU, and Basanta Bahadur Kunwar, Inspector General of Police, signed the accord.
IGP Kunwar, reflecting on the previous collaboration with Kathmandu University School of Education, emphasized that the newly signed agreement has further solidified the partnership between Nepal Police Hospital and KU. He believes that this agreement opens avenues for the exchange of knowledge, experiences, and expertise, fostering mutual support in educational programs.
Expressing gratitude for KU’s support in capacity building for the Nepal Police and ensuring a robust work execution system, Kunwar stated that the Nepal Police is eager to identify additional areas for collaboration and mutual cooperation in the days ahead. He directed the Hospital Administration to actively pursue activities with the necessary mechanisms to implement the agreement effectively.
Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Thapa, in turn, expressed optimism about the collaboration, anticipating that it would significantly contribute to the University’s ability to provide quality health education. He stressed the importance of joint efforts in medical education through this agreement with Nepal Police.
The five-year agreement outlines various areas of collaboration, including the initiation of joint research projects, active participation in educational programs, and the exploration of possibilities for developing and implementing educational initiatives to meet the current and future needs of the medicine and health sector. This collaboration is expected to bring about advancements in medical education and research for the benefit of both institutions and, ultimately, the broader community.
