KP Oli Praises Late Nembang as a Remarkable Politician

Chairman of CPN-UML, KP Sharma Oli, expressed his heartfelt condolences over the passing of former Speaker and Constituent Assembly Chairman, Subas Chandra Nembang. Speaking at a CPN-UML parliamentary party meeting on Thursday, Chairman Oli described Nembang as a highly accomplished and respected politician.

According to Chairman Oli, Subas Chandra Nembang had achieved remarkable recognition both nationally and internationally for his political acumen. He asserted that Nembang’s contributions to the nation set him apart from any other speaker in Nepal’s history, highlighting his ability to rise above party interests and effectively lead the parliament, thus elevating the dignity of the institution.

Chairman Oli also emphasized Nembang’s unwavering commitment to upholding the constitution and laws, emphasizing his belief in the importance of their sanctity. Furthermore, Nembang was known for his strong stance against communal hatred and his deep understanding of Nepal’s diverse society. He advocated for social harmony, social justice, and national unity founded upon social harmony.

Reflecting on Nembang’s legacy, Chairman Oli recalled his dedication to justice throughout his political career. Subas Chandra Nembang, who was born on Falgun 28, 2009 BS, tragically passed away on Tuesday due to a heart attack at the age of 71.

Nembang’s political journey included serving as a member of the National Assembly from the CPN-UML in 2048 BS and 2052 BS, as well as the House of Representatives in 2056 BS. Additionally, he held the prestigious position of Speaker of the House of Representatives in 2063 BS and served as the chairman of the Constituent Assembly in both 2065 BS and 2070 BS.

Nembang’s commitment to public service was further demonstrated by his election victories in the House of Representatives from Ilam Constituency-2 in 2074 BS and 2079 BS. Moreover, he assumed crucial roles as the Minister for Law, Justice, and Parliamentary Affairs, along with Minister for General Administration, contributing significantly to the constitution-making process through the Constituent Assembly.
