Madhav Nepal Questions PM Prachanda on JSP Split

Madhav Kumar Nepal, the Chairman of the Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Socialist), met with Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda on Monday to discuss the recent split within the Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP)-Nepal among other issues. The meeting followed a parliamentary session of Nepal’s party.

The two leaders, who also talked about the government’s upcoming policies and the national budget, met at a critical time following the split in the JSP-Nepal, a significant event in the current political landscape.

Sher Bahadur Kunwar, a prominent leader of the Unified Socialist and former minister, confirmed the discussions on these key political developments.

An insider from the Prime Minister’s Secretariat noted, “The discussion was not extensive, but it did cover important topics including the JSP split, upcoming government policies and programs, the national budget, and issues related to the vote of confidence for the Chief Minister of Sudurpaschim.”

The meeting also touched on the need for strengthening the alliance, a concern that Chairman Nepal highlighted during the secretariat meeting of his party earlier that day. He expressed worries about the lack of trust within the alliance, signaling underlying tensions.

As the budget session approaches, sources close to the party suggest there is growing pressure on Chairman Nepal to consider whether to continue within the alliance, hinting at possible significant changes in the political dynamics ahead.
