Maoist Center Seeks China’s Support for Nepali Socialism 

In a crucial meeting held at Hotel Dwarikaj in Kathmandu, a delegation led by Yuan Jiajun, a member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Party, met with the leader of the CPN (Maoist Center) to discuss various aspects of the relationship between the two Communist parties and explore avenues for future cooperation.

During the meeting on Sunday night, the Maoist leaders expressed their appreciation for China’s contributions to Nepal’s development process and sought continued cooperation in various fields. They emphasized the potential of emulating China’s successful model of socialism for Nepal and urged China to provide support in Nepal’s journey towards prosperity.

Secretary of the Maoist Center, Dinanath Sharma, who participated in the meeting, stated, “The discussions focused on further strengthening the relationship between the Maoist Center and the Chinese Communist Party, smoothing the relationship between the governments of the two countries, and strengthening the people-level relationship.”

The Maoist leaders highlighted the significance of China’s support for the government led by Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ in achieving the nation’s development goals.

The Maoist leaders underscored that China’s model of socialism could serve as a viable blueprint for Nepal, and they stressed the significance of China’s assistance in Nepal’s pursuit of socialism.
In response, the Chinese delegation assured Nepal of its continued support for the country’s development, underlining the importance of strengthening relations between the governments, political parties, and people of both nations.

The meeting was attended by several prominent figures from the Maoist Center, including Acting President and Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Narayan Kaji Shrestha, Vice Presidents Krishna Bahadur Mahara and Agni Sapkota, General Secretary Dev Prasad Gurung, Deputy General Secretary Barshman Pun and Haribol Gajurel, Secretaries Sharma and Ganesh Sah, among others.

Earlier in the visit, Chinese leader Yuan Chi Chun had a courtesy meeting with President Ramchandra Paudel to discuss bilateral interests and the reinforcement of mutual relations. Additionally, a virtual dialogue took place between Chinese leader Chun and Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ on the same day.

The delegation’s visit to Nepal follows their trip to Sri Lanka and signals a strengthening of ties between Nepal and China on matters of mutual interest and cooperation in various domains.
