Minister Basnet Vows to Break Lock at Bir Hospital Amid Allegations of Staff Misconduct

Minister for Health and Population, Mohan Bahadur Basnet, has declared his intention to personally break any locks placed on the doors of Bir Hospital. The statement comes in response to allegations of a group within the hospital neglecting their duties and attempting to tarnish the minister’s reputation.

During a program organized by the National Academy of Medical Sciences at Bir Hospital to inaugurate the mammography service, Minister Basnet addressed the ongoing issues within the institution. He acknowledged the existence of a group allegedly engaged in activities aimed at defaming him, emphasizing the need for a resolution to the internal conflicts.

The Health Minister highlighted positive changes in the hospital, such as the initiation of OPD services from 8:00 am and the establishment of a separate ward for VIP treatment. He also stressed the importance of special arrangements for the treatment of cardiac-related diseases and cancer.

In addition to Minister Basnet’s comments, Vice-Chancellor of NAMS, Prof Dr Bhupendra Kumar Basnet, provided insights into the hospital’s recent improvements. He mentioned the installation of modern equipment with 3D technology, an expansion of the ICU capacity, and plans to introduce teaching for the MBBS subject from the upcoming academic session.
