Mobile Networks Inactive in Tinkune and Balkhu, Phone Contact Lost

Residents in Tinkune and Balkhu areas of Kathmandu are experiencing a disruption in mobile networks, resulting in a loss of phone contact. This situation arises as Jamar technologies are deployed coinciding with separate demonstrations by the Durga Prasai group and Youth Association Nepal (YAN).

Following a clash between the two groups at Balkhu, law enforcement has introduced Jamar vehicles, designed with electronic jamming technology to disrupt or block communication signals. These vehicles, commonly used for counter-terrorism and public event security, interfere with various signals, including radio frequencies, cellular signals, and GPS signals.

While the deployment of Jamar technologies is aimed at enhancing security during demonstrations, the unintended consequence has been the inactivity of mobile networks in the designated areas. Residents are now facing challenges in making phone calls and maintaining essential communication.
