National Security Advisors of India and China Hold Meeting on Sidelines of BRICS NSAs’ Meeting

National Security Advisor Ajit Doval has met top Chinese diplomat Wang Yi, Member of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Political Bureau and Director of the Office of the CPC Foreign Affairs Commission, on the sidelines of the BRICS NSAs’ Meeting in Johannesburg.

During the meeting, the Indian NSA conveyed his concerns regarding the situation along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in the Western Sector of the India-China boundary. He expressed that the events since 2020 have led to a significant erosion of strategic trust and have impacted the public and political foundations of the bilateral relationship.

Emphasizing the importance of continued efforts to find a comprehensive resolution, Shri Ajit Doval highlighted the need to restore peace and tranquility in the border areas. Such measures would facilitate the removal of obstacles and impediments in bilateral relations, ultimately paving the way for normalcy and stability between the two nations.

Both sides acknowledged the significance of the India-China bilateral relationship, recognizing that it holds importance not only for the two countries themselves but also for the broader region and the world at large. Hence, finding common ground and addressing the existing challenges in a constructive manner was underlined as a priority.

The meeting provided an opportunity for candid discussions on various issues, fostering an environment of open dialogue and cooperation. Both the Indian and Chinese delegations expressed their commitment to furthering constructive engagement and strengthening bilateral ties.
