Nepal Defeats Qatar by Eight Wickets in Four-Nation T20I Series Opener

Nepal defeated Qatar by eight wickets in the first match of the Four-Nation T20I Series taking place in Hong Kong from today.

Invited to bat first after losing the toss, Qatar posted a total of 151 runs for the loss of five wickets in the allotted 20 overs at the Tin Kwong Road Stadium in Hong Kong. Captain Ikramullah Khan scored the highest for Qatar with 54 runs off 54 balls, including five fours and two sixes. Shahzaib Jamil made 31 runs, Mujeeb-ur-Rehman 20 runs, Mohammed Irshad 18 runs, and Arumugaganesh Nagarajan 13 runs. Rifayi Theruvath and Jassim Khan contributed six and four runs respectively. Qatar was awarded an additional five runs.

For Nepal, Karan KC, Sompal Kami, Nandan Yadav, Gulshan Jha, and Lalit Rajbanshi claimed one wicket each.

Chasing the 152-run victory target, Nepal completed the chase in 17 overs at the loss of two wickets. Kushal Bhurtel scored the highest with 38 runs off 19 balls, followed by Captain Rohit Paudel with 37 runs in 29 balls, Aasif Sheikh with 33 runs, and Basir Ahmed with 30 runs. Nepal also received an additional 16 runs in the match.

Mujeeb-ur-Rehman took two wickets for Qatar.
