Nepal Police Recalls Four Inspectors from CIB Amidst Gold Smuggling Probe

Nepal Police has recalled four of its Inspectors from the Central Bureau of Investigation (CIB). Sources within the Nepal Police headquarters disclosed that the officers—Suresh Khatri, Ranjit Lama, Wakil Singh, and Krishna Shrestha—were summoned back from their duties at CIB on Friday.

The decision comes in the wake of an investigation into the smuggling of 60 kilograms of gold into the country, concealed within vapes and smuggled through Tribhuvan International Airport. An inquiry commission, headed by former High Court Judge Dilli Raj Acharya, had recommended an inquiry into the conduct of these four police officers. Their recall is attributed to alleged negligence in the handling of the aforementioned investigation.
