Nepal’s Life Expectancy Soars to 71.3 Years, Reports National Census

The latest findings from the National Census of 2078 BS, released by the Central Bureau of Statistics, reveal a significant rise in the life expectancy of Nepali citizens. Over the past 30 years, life expectancy has dramatically increased by 21.5 years, with the average now standing at 71.3 years.

This substantial growth in life expectancy is attributed to decreased birth and death rates, enhanced access to healthcare services, educational advancements, the adoption of balanced diets, and improved transportation infrastructure.

Despite these gains, a gender disparity in life expectancy remains, with females generally living longer than males. The statistics show that the average life expectancy for males is 68.2 years, whereas for females, it is 73.8 years.

The latest census data underscores significant strides in Nepal’s efforts to enhance the quality and longevity of life among its population, driven by improvements in healthcare, education, and overall socioeconomic conditions.
