Nepal’s Resounding Seven-Wicket Victory Over UAE

Nepal kicked off the T20I Triangular Series in style on Wednesday, clinching a resounding seven-wicket victory over the United Arab Emirates (UAE) at the Mulpani International Cricket Ground.

Opting to bat first after losing the toss, the UAE found themselves in hot water early on as opener Khalid Shah fell victim to a brilliant opening over by the Nepali bowlers. Alishan Sharafu, Muhammad Waseem, and Asif Khan followed suit, departing cheaply, and left the UAE struggling at 52 for four.

However, Ali Naseer and Basil Hameed provided a much-needed rescue operation for the UAE, forging a solid 56-run partnership to stabilize the innings. With their contributions, the UAE managed to set a total of 140 runs in their allotted 20 overs.

Nepal’s bowlers displayed remarkable skill, with Karan KC leading the way by claiming three crucial wickets. Gulshan Jha added to the UAE’s misery with two wickets, while Sompal Kami and Abinash Bohara each chipped in with a wicket of their own.

In response, Nepal embarked on their innings cautiously, but the loss of Kushal Bhurtel during the powerplay was a blow. Kushal Malla, following a mixup with Aasif Sheikh, was subsequently run out, and Sheikh himself couldn’t find his rhythm, departing with 23 runs to his name.

Rohit Paudel and Dipendra Singh Airee took charge of the situation and displayed a composed partnership that eventually swung the match in Nepal’s favor. Airee’s exceptional running between the wickets and powerful hitting was particularly impressive, while Paudel provided a steady hand, helping Nepal secure a comprehensive victory against their long-standing rivals.

Paudel delivered a standout performance with 51 runs to his name, while Airee contributed 34 runs during their crucial 93-run partnership.

With this convincing win, Nepal is now set to face Hong Kong in their next T20I clash scheduled for Thursday, with high hopes of continuing their strong start in the Triangular Series.
