Nepal Police has intensified its crackdown on fugitive criminals, arresting 3,264 individuals in the last month of Magh alone. The highest number of arrests were made in the Kathmandu Valley.
According to Deputy Inspector General of Police Dinesh Kumar Acharya, the arrested individuals had been convicted by the court but remained at large. The police have also collected Rs 239.291 million in fines from the fugitives, who collectively face sentences totaling 672 years, six months, and 23 days.
Among the arrests, 527 were from Koshi Province, 713 from Madhes, 170 from Bagmati, 217 from Gandaki, 583 from Lumbini, 55 from Karnali, and 89 from Sudurpaschim. Kathmandu Valley recorded the highest number of arrests at 903, while the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) apprehended seven fugitives from various locations.
The arrested individuals have been presented in court and sent to prison to serve their sentences, according to police headquarters.
