PM Dahal Returns Home After Advocating for Climate Justice at COP-28

Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has returned to Nepal after actively participating in the 28th Conference of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP-28) held in Dubai, UAE.

Prime Minister Dahal, who departed for the UAE on November 29, concluded his five-day program at COP-28, advocating for climate justice and highlighting the need to address environmental injustices faced by Nepal.

Upon his return today, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Defense Purna Bahadur Khadka, Speaker Devraj Ghimire, and other dignitaries welcomed Prime Minister Prachanda at the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA).

During the COP-28 conference, Prime Minister Prachanda delivered a powerful address on Saturday, emphasizing the urgent need to halt injustice against Nepal in the global fight against climate change. He called for concerted efforts to ensure equitable solutions that consider the specific challenges faced by mountainous nations like Nepal.

In addition to his address, Prime Minister Prachanda convened a round-table meeting with the heads of state and governments representing mountainous countries. The discussions focused on collaborative strategies to mitigate the impact of climate change on these regions.

Prime Minister Prachanda also had a significant meeting with United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on Sunday, discussing Nepal’s concerns and contributions to global climate action.

The Nepali delegation, led by Prime Minister Prachanda, actively engaged in negotiations and discussions during COP-28, emphasizing the nation’s commitment to climate resilience and sustainable development.
