JSP-Nepal Faces Split, Ashok Rai Leads Faction to Form New Party

The Janata Samajbadi Party-Nepal (JSP-Nepal) led by Upendra Yadav is reportedly on the verge of a split. A faction led by senior party leader Ashok Rai is preparing to establish a new party.

Efforts are underway to register the new party with the Election Commission today. The name of the new entity will retain the initials “JSP” but will drop ‘Nepal’ from its title.

According to sources, 8 Members of Parliament are supporting the split, with seven already having signed the necessary documents. The signatories include Pradeep Yadav, Sushila Shrestha, among others, along with Rai.

JSP-Nepal Chairman Upendra Yadav is currently in the United States but is expected to return to Nepal tonight.
