President Deuba Vows Support for Expansion of BP Koirala Hospital

Nepali Congress President and former Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has pledged his party’s full support in expanding the services of the BP Memorial Community Hospital.
Speaking at the hospital’s 17th Annual General Meeting in Kathmandu today, Deuba emphasized the importance of community-driven healthcare and reaffirmed his commitment to extending the legacy of the late BP Koirala by establishing similar hospitals across the country.
“The hospital, founded as a community initiative, must ensure responsible use of shareholders’ and public funds,” Deuba said, lauding the hospital’s contributions to strengthening Nepal’s healthcare sector.
At the same event, Nepali Congress leader Dr. Shekhar Koirala stressed the urgency of constitutional amendment, warning that further delays would only intensify public dissatisfaction. He also called on party leadership to remain mindful of internal unity, particularly in maintaining effective coordination with coalition partner CPN (UML).
Meanwhile, Umesh Jung Rayamajhi, Chairperson of the Hospital’s Board of Directors, announced plans to expand BP Memorial Hospital services to all seven provinces, aiming to enhance equitable healthcare access nationwide.
