President Paudel Extends Greetings on Mahavir Jayanti

President Ramchandra Paudel has wished for happiness, peace, and prosperity to all Nepali Jain sisters and brothers in the country and abroad on the occasion of the 2624th birth anniversary of Mahavir, the founder of Jainism. In a message of best wishes today, President Paudel shared that Mahavir had practiced the highest form of restraint and non-violence.
He emphasized that national unity could be strengthened by maintaining tolerance and goodwill among religious, social, and cultural diversity if the guiding principles of Mahavir were followed. He also expressed the belief that Mahavir Jayanti would inspire all to be active in building a cultured and civilized society fostering mutual trust, love, and unity.
The birth anniversary of Mahavir is marked by Jain communities on the day of Chait Shukla Triyodashi every year, with various programmes held by followers of the Jain religion from all over the world, including Nepal. Mahavir Jayanti is celebrated with enthusiasm every year in Nepal by Vedic, Buddhist, Jain, Sikh, and other communities.
Mahavir formulated five paths of salvation — truth, non-violence, celibacy, infallibility, and non-aggression — and he himself also followed these principles.
