Relief for Consumers: Oil Corporation Reverts to Previous Prices

The government has decided to reverse the recent price hike of petroleum products. The Oil Corporation had raised the prices of various petroleum products, including petrol, diesel, kerosene, and cooking gas, just a few days ago.

During today’s Cabinet meeting, it was directed that the Oil Corporation should immediately rescind the price increase. Law Minister Dhanraj Gurung made the announcement, stating that the corporation would release a statement to revert to the previous prices following the government’s instructions.

Over the weekend, during a meeting of the corporation’s governing committee, it had been decided to increase petrol prices by Rs 2 per liter, while diesel and kerosene were raised by Rs 6 per liter. Cooking gas saw a substantial increase of Rs 215 per cylinder, causing concerns among consumers.

In addition to domestic price hikes, aviation fuel prices had also been raised by Rs 8 per liter, affecting both domestic and international flights.

The recent price increases had led to the cost of a gas cylinder reaching Rs 2110 per cylinder, which had put a strain on many households. The government’s decision to reverse these price hikes will likely bring relief to consumers across the country.
