Russian Reluctance Delays Return of Nepali Nationals: PM Dahal

In a press conference held at the Tribhuvan International Airport upon his return from the 19th Summit of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) in Uganda, Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal disclosed the challenges Nepal is facing in promptly repatriating its citizens enlisted in the Russian army.

Despite continuous efforts, PM Dahal expressed the formidable challenge Nepal is confronted with in securing the release of Nepali nationals currently serving in the Russian military. Diplomatic notes have been dispatched to Russia, but the Prime Minister revealed that the Russian government has shown reluctance in promptly releasing Nepali youths.

During his meeting with the Russian Deputy Foreign Minister in Uganda, PM Dahal emphasized the urgency of releasing Nepali nationals enlisted in the Russian army. He conveyed that Nepali citizens are authorized for recruitment only in the national armies of India and the United Kingdom, urging Russia to reconsider their stance on this matter.

Addressing the media, Prime Minister Dahal underscored the necessity of discouraging the practice of Nepali citizens seeking employment opportunities in countries that contravene the policies and constitution of Nepal. He stressed the importance of adhering to the established guidelines and regulations governing the deployment of Nepali nationals abroad.

Having concluded his visit to Uganda, Prime Minister Dahal returned to Nepal this morning.
