Sandeep Case: Court’s Seven-Day Deadline for Victim’s Birth Records

In the rape case against cricketer Sandeep Lamichhane, the Kathmandu District Court has issued a seven-day deadline to obtain documents related to the victim’s date of birth. The court, led by Judge Shakuntala Karki, requested these documents from the municipality where the victim’s family originally hailed from.

The court’s registrar, Kaushaleshwar Gyawali, has stated that continuous hearings in the case will proceed once these crucial documents are presented in court. Previously, the court had sought similar documents related to the victim’s birth from the local body where her family currently resides.

During the Thursday hearing, government attorneys Surbir Pariyar, Mohna Ansari, and Narayan Chaulagain represented the victim’s interests. As a result of these developments, the next hearing in this case is scheduled for Bhadra 26. Sandeep Lamichhane, the accused cricketer, is presently out on bail.
