Sanil Nepal’s Ambitious Plans: Can He Lure Ronaldo to Nepal?

The Federal Parliament Hearing Committee has given its unanimous approval to Sanil Nepal as Nepal’s ambassador to Portugal. During the committee’s meeting on Friday, Nepal outlined his vision and commitment to his new role, pledging to serve to the best of his knowledge, capacity, and conscience.

However, what has truly caught the public’s attention is Nepal’s bold proposal to bring the globally renowned Portuguese football sensation, Cristiano Ronaldo, to Nepal. Nepal envisions Ronaldo’s visit not only as a spectacular event for football enthusiasts but also as a means to spotlight the impact of climate change on the Himalayan region, citing the decrease in snow on the mountains.

Nepal presented a comprehensive action plan, including efforts to have Ronaldo play football with Nepali players, aiming to enhance the skills and efficiency of the local football talent. This move is expected to create a unique opportunity for cultural exchange and collaboration between Ronaldo and Nepali football enthusiasts.

In addition to his sports-related initiatives, Ambassador Nepal expressed his commitment to promoting tourism between Portugal and Nepal. He outlined a target of attracting 10,000 tourists from Portugal to Nepal annually, fostering stronger ties and cultural exchanges between the two nations.

This development comes after the government’s decision on October 19 to open a Nepal Embassy in Portugal, with the recommendation of Sanil Nepal as the ambassador. As the nation eagerly anticipates these ambitious plans, only time will tell if Ronaldo will indeed step foot on Nepali soil, bringing with him a wave of excitement and global attention.
