Senior US National Security Official, Rear Admiral Eileen Laubacher, Arriving Nepal on December 6

Rear Admiral Eileen Laubacher, currently serving as the ‘special assistant to the assistant to the president for national security affairs’ at the National Security Council, Washington, is scheduled to arrive in Nepal on December 6 for a crucial two-day official visit. Her visit, which includes engagements with top government officials and key stakeholders, aims to deepen the bilateral relationship between Nepal and the United States.

Rear Admiral Laubacher, a senior director at the National Security Council for South Asia, had recently held discussions with Foreign Minister NP Saud during his visit to Washington D.C., addressing various aspects of the Nepal-US partnership. Her upcoming visit underscores the commitment to furthering collaboration in the realms of security, human rights, defense cooperation, democracy strengthening, development, and cyber security.

Accompanied by Seamas Whitesel, the director for South Asia Regional Affairs at the National Security Council, Rear Admiral Laubacher is set to meet with senior government officials, including Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal. The agenda for the visit includes in-depth discussions on security ties, refugee rights, fostering democracy, defense cooperation, development initiatives, collaboration between law enforcement agencies, and cyber security measures.

A foreign ministry official, familiar with the visit, emphasized that Rear Admiral Laubacher’s trip is strategically focused on examining the multifaceted dimensions of Nepal-US ties, reinforcing regional stability, and fostering cooperation in critical areas of mutual interest.
