Speaker directs government to respond to MPs’ queries on March 4

Speaker Devraj Ghimire has instructed the government to address the array of issues raised by lawmakers during the House of Representatives (HoR) session on March 4.

The directive from the Speaker follows demands from the main opposition and other parties for the government to address contemporary issues in the HoR meeting today.

During the session, lawmakers Surya Bahadur Thapa Chhetri and Rajendra Lingden drew attention to the government’s lack of action on problems faced by usury victims, individuals impacted by microfinance, and dairy farmers.

Lawmakers had previously called on the government to provide clear responses to issues such as the Balkumari incident and the dismissal of ministers accused of corruption. Opposition lawmakers began the meeting with protests, highlighting the government’s failure to address previously raised concerns in parliament.
