Sri Lanka secures 10-wicket victory in ICC World Cup Qualifiers match

Sri Lanka has won Oman in the ICC one-day world cup qualifying tournament, 2023.

In the Group ‘B’ match held at the Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe today, Sri Lanka thrashed Oman by 10 wickets.

Chasing a modest target of 99 runs, Sri Lanka secured its victory over Oman in 15 overs without losing any wicket.

Dimuth Karunaratne gathered the highest 61 runs for Sri Lanka to provide a solid base for the win. He made eight boundaries facing 61 balls.

Likewise, another batsman Pathum Nissanka contributed 37 runs off 39 throws to propel the victory.

Invited to batting first after losing the toss, Oman was limited to 98 runs at the loss of all wickets in 30.2 overs.

Ayaan Khan made the highest 41 runs for Oman. He faced 60 balls to gather the runs. Similarly, Oman’s Jatinder Singh and Fyaj Butta contributed 21 and 13 runs, respectively. Other cricketers did not make double digit runs for Oman in the qualifying match.

Wanindu Hasarang took five wickets and Lahir Kumara three wickets to limit Oman to a moderate performance.

With this, Sri Lanka registered second consecutive win with four points and remained in the top position in Group B. Sri Lanka had won UAE in the first match.

Oman has also secured equal four points from three matches. Earlier, Oman had registered its victory over Ireland and UAE.
