T20 World Cup: Australia Triumphs Over England by 36 Runs

Australia secured a 36-run victory against England in a Group ‘B’ match of the ICC T20 World Cup cricket, played last night in Barbados.

Australia batted first, posting a total of 201 runs for the loss of seven wickets in the allotted 20 overs. David Warner led the Australian innings with a blistering 39 runs off just 16 balls, including two fours and four sixes. Travis Head contributed 34 runs from 18 balls with two fours and three sixes, while captain Mitchell Marsh added 35 runs off 25 balls with two fours and two sixes. Glenn Maxwell scored 28 runs, and Marcus Stoinis chipped in with 30 runs.

England’s Chris Jordan was the standout bowler, taking two wickets.

Chasing a target of 202 runs, England managed to score 165 runs for the loss of six wickets in their 20 overs. Captain Jos Buttler was the top scorer with 42 runs off 28 balls, including five fours and two sixes. Phil Salt added 37 runs, hitting four fours and two sixes in his 23-ball stay. Moeen Ali scored 25, Harry Brook 20, Liam Livingstone 15, Will Jacks 10, and Jonny Bairstow 7 runs.

Australia’s Pat Cummins and Adam Zampa each took two wickets, helping to restrict England’s chase.

With this victory, Australia has collected four points from two games, strengthening their position in Group ‘B’.
