TikTok Ban Essential for Social Order: PM Dahal

Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has justified the government’s decision to ban the popular social network TikTok, citing extensive deliberations and consensus among all political parties.

Addressing a gathering in Bhaktapur on Nepal Sambat, Prime Minister Dahal underscored the importance of controlling social chaos for the greater good of society. He explained that the ban was a result of careful consideration, drawing inspiration from practices adopted by other democratic and developed nations.

“Extensive discussions took place to curb the inclination to spread disharmony, disorder, and chaos in society. A consensus was reached among all political parties, including both the ruling party and the opposition,” stated Prime Minister Dahal.

Acknowledging the potential for debates surrounding the ban, the Prime Minister emphasized the government’s commitment to preventing and regulating societal disturbances caused by the dissemination of misinformation.

“While debates about the pros and cons will arise, the government’s purpose is to prevent and regulate society from those who spread distortions, inconsistencies, and chaos. We aim to stop what can be stopped and regulate what can be regulated,” he elaborated.

Prime Minister Prachanda’s assertion highlights the government’s dedication to maintaining social harmony and family unity. The proactive measures, including the TikTok ban, are aimed at curbing activities that may disrupt the well-being of society and ensuring the fulfillment of the state’s responsibilities.
