UML Chief Whip Accuses PM Dahal of Destabilizing Nepal

Chief Whip of the CPN-UML, Mahesh Bartaula, has accused Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda of attempting to destabilize the country.

Speaking at today’s House of Representatives (HoR) meeting, Bartaula claimed that efforts were being made to extend the government’s tenure despite being in the minority. He alleged that actions from Baluwatar (the PM’s official residence) aimed to steer Nepal towards instability by obstructing the formation of a new government.

“Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda’s insistence on perpetuating the current government has exacerbated tensions,” Bartaula asserted.

Bartaula noted that the UML’s growing skepticism led them to collaborate with the Nepali Congress after leaving the government where they felt weakened. He emphasized the UML’s commitment to implementing agreements with the Nepali Congress, framing the current situation as a threat to Nepal’s constitutional framework.

Citing Article 76, Clause 2 of the Constitution, Bartaula stressed that there were no constitutional barriers to forming a new government. He called on Prime Minister Dahal to facilitate the transition by resigning promptly, urging against delaying the process.
