159 Aftershocks Recorded Following Jajarkot Earthquake

The National Earthquake Monitoring and Research Center has reported a total of 159 aftershocks following a 6.4 magnitude earthquake with its epicenter in Jajarkot. The initial earthquake struck at 11:47 PM on Friday night.

Seismologist Mukund Bhattarai at the Center has confirmed that these aftershocks continued until 10:15 AM on Saturday morning. While the exact duration of aftershocks following a major earthquake is difficult to predict, it is generally understood that smaller seismic vibrations can persist for minutes, weeks, months, and even years after the initial event. Seismic activity in the epicenter area will continue until it gradually returns to its previous state.
