Ministry Issues Warning Against Doctors Working in Private Hospitals

The Ministry of Health and Population has issued a stern warning to doctors and health workers employed in government hospitals, cautioning them against engaging in full-time employment with private health institutions, deeming it illegal.

In an appeal addressed to doctors and health workers under its jurisdiction, Ministry Secretary Madhusudan Burlakoti emphasized the illegality of full-time employment in private health facilities. Burlakoti urged them to refrain from such activities, emphasizing adherence to existing laws and statutes.

“The Ministry has been made aware of complaints regarding doctors and health workers employed by the Ministry working full-time in private health institutions within the country, as well as government-run and private health facilities abroad, with or without obtaining official leave approval,” the appeal stated.

Expressing grave concern over these reports, the Ministry underscored the necessity for compliance with legal regulations, urging medical professionals to abstain from engaging in any form of illegal activity.

“The Ministry requests doctors, health workers, and medical staff involved in such practices to abide by the law and desist from participating in activities that contravene existing laws and statutes,” the appeal reiterated.

The Ministry’s warning comes amid growing concerns over the dual employment of medical personnel, highlighting the need for strict enforcement of regulations to maintain ethical standards within the healthcare sector.
