65 Absconding Defendants Arrested in Banke in a Month

Police in Banke have arrested 65 absconding defendants over the past month (February 13 – March 13), who had been on the run for various crimes.

According to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Deepak Patali, the arrested individuals, who had evaded law enforcement for a long time, have been handed over to the District Court. They have been sentenced to a combined 15 years, two months, and 18 days in jail, with a total fine of Rs 435,055 imposed.

Additionally, the Nepalgunj Customs Office seized illegal goods worth Rs 1,471,875 and imposed a fine of Rs 48,000. Four tippers and two tractors involved in the illegal extraction of river-based products were also confiscated.

In the past month, 102 people have been arrested in connection with 131 registered cases in the district, while 65 pending cases were settled. During traffic operations, police took action against 3,614 vehicles, collecting Rs 2,911,500 in revenue.
