“An Element Actively Working to Weaken the Army,” Says COAS
In a recent State Affairs and Good Governance Committee session, Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) Prabhuram Sharma highlighted active efforts by certain groups to undermine the integrity of the Nepali Army. The remarks were made in response to queries from parliamentarians regarding the ongoing age dispute involving high-ranking army officers.
COAS Prabhuram Sharma expressed concern over a concerted effort by a particular group to weaken and dismantle the Nepali Army. He asserted that this group is actively disseminating unverified information and working to discredit the army, particularly in the context of the age dispute.
“There is an element actively working to weaken the army. A group is actively engaged in attempting to dismantle the army ahead of others. This group disseminates unverified information and seeks to discredit the army,” he stated during the committee session.
The Chief of Army Staff urged parliamentarians to take decisive action by enacting legislation to prosecute individuals involved in activities that harm the integrity of the Nepali Army. This call for legislative measures aims to address the specific challenges posed by those attempting to undermine the armed forces through the dissemination of misleading information.
