Oli Labels Royal Massacre a Conspiracy, Rejects Former King Shah’s Clarification
CPN-UML chairman KP Oli has dismissed former King Gyanendra Shah’s recent clarification on the Royal Massacre, terming it unconvincing. In a media address in Kathmandu on Sunday, Oli objected to Gyanendra Shah’s assertion that the massacre was caused by then Crown Prince Dipendra Shah.
“Former King is no more a king. His status is like that of the Kush grass idol purohitas make while carrying out religious rituals; it’s no use talking about him,” Oli declared.
Refuting Gyanendra Shah’s remarks made during a speech in Birgunj on Saturday, Oli labeled the Durbar massacre as a horrific conspiracy. The UML chairman expressed strong disagreement with the former King’s claims regarding the events of May 1, 2001, emphasizing the need to address the incident as a deliberate plot.
Gyanendra Shah had raised concerns about false rumors defaming the royal family during his Birgunj speech, prompting Oli to publicly reject and counter those claims. The disagreement between the CPN-UML chairman and the former King adds a new dimension to the ongoing discussions surrounding the tragic events of the Royal Massacre.
