RSP Ministers Return from Baluwatar Without Resigning
04th Jul 2024
Ministers from the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) who had arrived at the Prime Minister’s residence in Baluwatar to resign have returned without submitting their resignations.
After discussions with Prime Minister Prachanda, the ministers decided to hold off on resigning. Chief Whip Santosh Pariyar stated that PM Prachanda requested a vote of confidence from Parliament and sought cooperation.
Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane, along with Ministers Dol Prasad Aryal, Sumana Shrestha, and Birajbhakta Shrestha, had gone to Baluwatar prepared to resign. The RSP’s move follows CPN-UML’s withdrawal of support, leading to the government’s minority status.
