Constitutional amendment is not regressive, Says Oli

CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli has stated that constitutional amendment is not regressive. During a parliamentary party meeting on Sunday, Chairman Oli emphasized that establishing a foundation for political stability would serve the country’s and people’s interests.

“We have taken into account the challenges observed since the constitution’s promulgation. Amending the constitution to address these issues is necessary,” Oli remarked during the meeting. “Seeking political stability through constitutional amendments is not regressive.”

Oli called for all parties to support the amendment, stressing its role in fortifying the constitution. “We are forming a national government with major parties to steer the country towards stability. Everyone should participate in this coalition,” he added.

The meeting endorsed an agreement to appoint Oli as Prime Minister with Nepali Congress’s backing under Article 76(2) of the Constitution. Simultaneously, it was decided to advise Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ against seeking a vote of confidence, given the consensus among major parties to form a new government.
