Airee Makes History: Joins Elite Club with Six Sixes in an Over

Dipendra Singh Airee etched his name in the annals of cricket history by becoming only the third cricketer to hit six sixes in an over in an international T20 match. Airee’s remarkable feat unfolded during Nepal’s riveting encounter against Qatar in the 2024 ACC Men’s Premier Cup in Oman.

Facing the final over bowled by Kamran Khan, Airee unleashed a barrage of sixes, propelling Nepal to a stunning victory. His explosive innings saw him adding an astonishing 36 runs in just six deliveries, catapulting his total to an unbeaten 64 off a mere 21 balls.

Airee’s achievement places him in the illustrious company of Yuvraj Singh and Kieron Pollard, who previously achieved this rare milestone in international T20 cricket. Singh accomplished the feat in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2007, while Pollard replicated it in 2021.

However, this isn’t the first time Airee has displayed such dominance with the bat. He previously clubbed six consecutive sixes in a match against Malaysia during the Asian Games Men’s Cricket Competition, setting a record by scoring 50 runs off just nine balls.

Adding to his brilliance, Airee also made significant contributions with the ball, claiming two crucial wickets for Nepal. His outstanding all-round performance rightfully earned him the coveted Player of the Match accolade.

Reflecting on his extraordinary achievement in the post-match presentation, Airee attributed his success to a remarkable display of confidence, stating that his momentum was fueled by hitting four consecutive sixes in a row earlier in the innings.

With this historic performance, Airee not only etches his name in cricketing folklore but also reaffirms Nepal’s growing prowess on the international stage.
