All Nepali Peacekeepers in Congo Reported Safe: Nepali Army

The Nepali Army (NA) has confirmed the safety of all 1,130 Nepali peacekeepers deployed in the Democratic Republic of Congo under the United Nations (UN) peacekeeping mission.

NA Spokesperson Gaurav Kumar KC assured that the peacekeepers, stationed in three locations across Congo, remain unharmed despite escalating tensions in the region, particularly in Goma. “Our peacekeeping forces are safe in Congo. The UN has already relocated non-essential personnel to safer locations,” he stated.

Tensions in Congo have risen due to ongoing clashes between government forces and the M23 rebel group, which has been active in the area in recent days. The UN has instructed additional security measures to ensure the safety of its personnel amidst the unrest.

Nepal has long been a significant contributor to UN peacekeeping missions worldwide, with its forces known for their professionalism and dedication in conflict zones. The Nepali Army reiterated its commitment to working closely with the UN to address any emerging security challenges in Congo.
