APF Nepal to Establish Border Outpost at Phu Village, Manang

A Border Outpost (BOP) of the Armed Police Force (APF) Nepal is set to be established at Phu Village in Narpabhumi Rural Municipality-4, Manang, near the Nepal-China border. The initiative aims to strengthen border security, manage the transit point, and curb transnational crime, according to the District Administration Office, Manang.

The BOP will be situated at an altitude of approximately 4,000 meters above sea level. Chief District Officer (CDO) Matrika Acharya stated that 20 ropanis of land have been leased to APF Nepal for the BOP’s setup. The remote and roadless terrain of Phu makes it crucial to enhance border surveillance and security, CDO Acharya emphasized.

A team of 35 armed police personnel, led by a police inspector, will be deployed at the BOP. The establishment process is underway in coordination with Narpabhumi Rural Municipality, and the BOP is expected to be operational soon.

CDO Acharya expressed confidence that the BOP would not only improve border security but also enhance disaster management, facilitate the rescue of tourists affected by high-altitude sickness, and maintain peace in the region.

Narpabhumi Rural Municipality shares its border with the Tibet Autonomous Region of China. Access to Phu Village from the district headquarters, Chame, requires a challenging two-day trek, highlighting the strategic importance of the outpost.
