Bhuwan Singh Gurung Elected President of NAFEA

Bhuwan Singh Gurung has been elected the new President of the Nepal Association of Foreign Employment Agencies (NAFEA), securing victory over his closest rival Naresh Gelal by 61 votes. Gurung received 428 votes, while Gelal garnered 367, according to official results announced on Friday morning.

A seasoned leader within NAFEA, Gurung previously served as the organization’s Second Vice-President and is also the Director of Gurung Management Pvt. Ltd.

In other key positions, Mahesh Kumar Basnet was elected as General Secretary with 423 votes, defeating Karna Raj Katuwal who received 362. Kunchha Dorje Dimdung won the post of Secretary, while Dhanmaya Sinjali was elected Treasurer.

The newly elected executive committee members include Rekha Sharma, Krishna Dhakal, Bharat Sapkota, Ramkaji Bholan, Suvarna Lama, Hima Gurung, Rama Khadka, Devi Prasad Giri, Suman Raj Pandey, and Bidya Laxmi Bajracharya, as announced by Deepak Thapa, President of the Nepal Democratic Foreign Employment Entrepreneurs Association.

NAFEA, the umbrella organization of 853 recruiting agencies in Nepal, plays a critical role in promoting safe foreign employment. The association advocates for the protection of migrant workers’ rights while also supporting its member organizations.
