
Chief Minister Singh Urges Social Harmony Following Communal Tensions in Birgunj


Madhes Province Chief Minister Satish Kumar Singh has called for the restoration of social harmony and urged calm following recent communal unrest in Birgunj. The clashes erupted between Hindu and Muslim communities during a religious procession marking Hanuman Jayanti.
In a press statement released on Tuesday, the Chief Minister’s Press Advisor, Anil Kumar Karna, stated that Singh is in regular communication with administrative and police officials to ensure the situation returns to normal through dialogue with all stakeholders.
Chief Minister Singh has directed the police administration to conduct a thorough investigation and take legal action against those found responsible for inciting violence. “Peace and tolerance can only be preserved through mutual respect and harmony among all religious, cultural, and ethnic groups,” the statement read.
Meanwhile, Minister for Water Supply Pradeep Yadav also emphasized the importance of upholding the rule of law. He urged local authorities to take strict legal action against individuals responsible for inflammatory remarks or acts of vandalism targeting public or private property.
Authorities continue efforts to de-escalate tensions and restore normalcy in the affected areas.
