CIB Raids Call Centre in Lalitpur, Arrests 53 People

The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of Nepal Police conducted a raid on a call centre in Satdobato, Lalitpur, and apprehended 53 individuals, including two Indian nationals, on charges of operating online gambling activities.

CIB Spokesperson, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Hobindra Bogati, confirmed that the detainees were involved in running an illegal online casino. He stated that investigations are underway and that further inquiries will be initiated after seeking an extension of the detention period from the court.

During the raid, law enforcement confiscated 85 laptop computers and 82 mobile phones from the suspects. DSP Bogati added that evidence indicates the group was engaged in various illegal activities, including online gambling.

The CIB has intensified its efforts to crack down on cybercrime and illicit operations, and this raid is part of a broader initiative to curb illegal activities in the country. Further updates will follow as investigations progress.
